4. Now it’s time to get serious. Join Scouting and be part of the team.
JOIN SCOUTING - There is always a need for more adult leaders. Each year, as older Scouts leave the troop, the troop also loses adult leaders. These positions must be replenished from among the parents of newer Scouts, or the life of the troop can be threatened. The Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters simply cannot do it all; nor can the Troop Committee. It takes many adults willing to enjoy the Scouting experience and provide a safe haven for youth to make a healthy, successful troop.
The cost to join scouting is $11 (increasing to $16 beginning 1/1/10). Just ask for an Adult Application. While you must register to serve as Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Chartered Organization Representative, Committee Chairman, or Treasurer, you don't necessarily have to join scouting in order to help in the other positions. Consider helping the Troop Committee working behind the scenes with paperwork and assorted other tasks. Or you can join the Scoutmaster’s team directly leading youth scouting activities like camping, rank advancement and merit badge work. Learn more about it all by following the links below ...
